Organization Overview
Development Programme Initiative (DPI) is a non-political, non-profit, and voluntary social welfare organization committed to advancing sustainable development and social justice. DPI envisions reducing inequality and improving the quality of life of marginalized communities across Bangladesh.
With a focus on children, women, persons with disabilities (PWD), and low-income groups, DPI bridges social and economic gaps through a holistic approach encompassing education, health, livelihoods, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Guided by inclusiveness and innovation,
DPI collaborates with government agencies, development organizations, and national and international networks to amplify its impact. Reflecting on DPI’s effort in education programs, foster student growth through mentorship and community engagement, creating pathways from learning to employment. In health, the organization nurtures vulnerable populations, including the elderly and persons with disabilities (PWD), with tailored care and support. Livelihood initiatives empower the ultra-poor and marginalized with sustainable income opportunities, showcasing inspiring success stories of resilience. Women and children thrive under equitable programs that promote empowerment, safety, and entrepreneurship, reducing vulnerabilities like early marriage. Environmentally, DPI addresses climate challenges with innovative tree-planting initiatives and community stewardship, while its humanitarian response shines through rapid aid during crises like the 2022 Sylhet floods.
Among its notable works, DPI supports the Promoting Education for Sustainable and Transformational Achievements (ProChESTA) initiative, enhancing education and livelihoods, and undertakes the Roots of Change: Tree Plantation Campaign through its sister concern dRi, promoting climate-smart reforestation. DPI also empowers grassroots farmers through fair value chains, ensuring economic benefits reach marginalized producers.
